There are no words
04:03
|
|||
There are now words for what I’ve done
There is no verse, no rhyme, no song
And on a starless night
With only darkness as my guide
I’m staying up and keeping time
There are no words, no lines, no prose
Not but a voice, that might, propose:
That a falling tree lands as softly as each leaf
I turn the page to find relief
There are now words for what I’ve done
There is no verse, no rhyme, no song
And on a starless night
With only darkness as my guide
I’m staying up and keeping time
There are no words, no lines, no prose
Not but a voice, that might, propose:
That a falling tree lands as softly as each leaf
I burn the page to find release
No words for what I’ve done
There are no words for what I’ve done

The Alpha & The Omega
06:53
|

And Lo…I know… the dreams… of angels
And Lo… I know… the speed… of time
And All… that is… or was… or will be
Each… a leaf… upon… the vine
And forged… in steel… the sword… and shield
I wield… upon… this battlefield
In God… I trust… for blood… I lust
Ash… to ash… and dust… to dust…
To dust…

Lost at Sea
05:21
|
|||
I tried to navigate
I tried to set the course
But my ship began to sway
And I couldn’t find the source
It was neither wind nor wave
Nor white whale or albatross
Just when I thought that it was safe
Is when I realized I was lost
At sea…
I pitched over the edge
My stomach heaving with the tide
And as I peered into those depths
It was there I saw the light
Rippling across the waves
Then stripping down and backing up
That’s when I paused to catch my breath
That's when I prayed it’d be enough to
Jump…
And so I plunged into those depths
They’re cold as ice and black as night
Fore I’d swore I’d nothing left unless I could
Somehow set this ship to rights
And so I set myself to work
Seaweed entangled, monsters lurked
a’Fore I’d even made a start
She broke the surface and my heart
I tried to navigate
I tried to set a course
But my ship began to sway
And I couldn’t find the source
It was neither wind nor wave
Nor white whale or albatross
Just when I thought that it was safe
Is when I realized all was lost
At sea…

But I digress...
01:55
|

Today…
is my birthday
I’m so excited…
Why aren’t you excited too?
Hurray…
Today I turned to stone
Your cobra eyes
And pouncing hips
Almost as if
They had a will of
Their own
And there’s no place like home
Same could be said
Of hell I guess
The floor’s caving in and the walls are showing stress
But I digress….

a twisted swing
06:02
|
|||
A pirouette… on a twisted swing
A gleaming chain… off which sunlight singed
A brilliant smile… glares innocence
Mischievous child… in his own shadow spins
Big toe dragged in gravel, describes
His revolution, in time
And space defined, in line
His summertime…
A marionette… clasping his own strings
In defiance… which so hollow rings
Echoes the past… dreams of the day
Time moves so fast… time spins away
Like a pirouette… on a twisted swing
Rust flakes rained down and ruined everything

Near the End
04:26
|
|||
The cards have been dealt – I’ve shown you my hand
You’re biting the flesh off, strand by strand
I sigh as I feed you - this transfusion is bliss
And I can taste my own blood, as it drips from your lips
When we kiss… I can tell we’re near the end
God made me strong
So he could right wrongs by my hand
And his itch on my trigger-finger’s
Beginning to feel like a command
And I’ll be rewarded
If not in this life the next
And if they were all really innocent,
Then now they’re equally blessed
(my best guess)
I don’t know but I’ve been told
That God is worth his weight in gold
Sunlight bleeding through the shade
The promise of each new day is
Broken, like children, from broken homes
Deprived of their right to be loved from the moment they’re born
Into a harshness so rough, that even sandpaper feels nice
And in the sweltering streets, there’s no time to think twice
When the ice, stagnates all – flow – to the heart
Do you ever wonder, or are you just “glad it’s not me”?
And do you shake in your slumber, sweat staining your sheets?
To deny your hunger’s to deny you’re a beast
Do you not tremble at thunder, if I cut you would you not bleed?
Just this once for me
Hold on tight, cause now we’re near the end
One last kiss, cause now we’re near the end
Now we’re near the end
Now we’re near the end
Now we’re near the…
